Who can be in ALR read below

Visit the "chapter locator" at http://www.americanlegionriders.net/ and find a chapter near your home (or get information about how to start a new chapter at your own American Legion Post).
In all cases, the prospective Rider must first be a current member, in good standing, in one of the three organizations of The American Legion Family:
The American Legion
The American Legion Auxiliary
The Sons of The American Legion
Many Posts, but not all, have also adopted the following eligibility rules for Rider membership:
- 1. Own of a motorcycle of at least 350cc engine displacement and must possess a valid driver's license in your state of residence (if overseas, appropriate local licensing is acceptable).
- 2. Applicant must maintain proof of coverage for all motorcycle collision, medical, property damage and liability insurance required by local and state laws, and of any additional coverage required by the sponsoring American Legion Post.
- 3. If applicant does not own a motorcycle, then he/she must be the spouse of an ALR member in good standing within the Chapter of application.
NOTE: No national authority can be found that mandates any set of eligibility rules or procedures over any other for American Legion Riders groups operating under the proper authority of a local American Legion Post.

No separate charter is necessary for the organization of a Riders chapter or group, since the Post that hosts them as an activity already governs each group. Riders may be disciplined or removed from the program under existing Post procedures outlined in the Post's own constitution or by-laws. This does not prevent Riders groups from adding more stringent rules to those already present in the Post bylaws and constitution.
While local American Legion Posts are free to make changes to the eligibility rules for their Riders and members see fit, The American Legion believes that local Riders groups should adhere as closely to the general policies outlined by the NALRIC as possible. This gives local Riders chapters and posts the freedom to adjust for local conditions and
